Pawn Shop Prize Lapel Pin on History Channel

12-28-11

Lapel pins recently made television history … or rather we were reminded of some lapel pin history on the popular History Channel show “Pawn Stars”. A customer, and former Olympic athlete, had brought in a pre-event screening pin he was given during the summer games. We learned from Rick that some of the earliest Olympic pin badges, made in the 1930′s and worn by the athletes, were actually made of cardboard and embellished with metal foil.

The humble beginnings of the cardboard pin badges soon led to high quality hard enamel & soft enamel pins and Olympic Pin Trading quickly became an international pastime.

Pincrafters have been proud to be involved in Olympic pin production for the Cayman Islands Youth Olympic Team and many other Olympic projects.

Variety, the children’s charity, has been selling lapel pins for their fundraising program for over 20 years. They raise over $6 million dollars annually. This year they are offering a Lucas Films licensed lapel pin featuring characters from the classic Star Wars franchise. George Lucas even became directly involved with the pin design and production.

The Grammy’s foundation MusiCares offers three different lapel pins for donation amounts of $250, $350 and $500 featuring sterling silver, sterling silver w/red enamel, and sterling silver with diamond.

Lions Club Pin Trading

12-07-11

Pin trading has been a popular activity for many years. Curling clubs from the mid nineteenth century are credited with starting the tradition. This tradition has carried on through many major league athletic teams, youth league athletic teams, political candidates, and various clubs and organizations.

Lions Club members have enjoyed pin trading through their local chapters nationwide and worldwide. PinCrafters is proud to be an authorized Lions Club pin licensee for the USA, Canada & Australia. We have been providing Lions Club chapters with high quality lapel pins for over 10 years. Lions Club member Thomas Johnston of Joplin, Montana recently made headlines after donating over 1,600 pins to a local Battlefields Protection Association. The pins cover every phase of the Civil War and were collected from Local Lions Club Chapters across the country. Click here for the full story.

On the West Coast, California Lions Pin Traders display a great variety of lapel pins on their site, as well as slideshows of some of their regions local trading and International Pin Swaps.

Custom Pins used for Recognition

12-06-11

There was a recent article that really exemplified how many of our police and fire department customers use custom lapel pins.  We have seen an increase in designing custom lapel pins for upcoming trade shows like http://www.nylawexpo.com.

Also local police departments and fire stations have used our lapel pin production to minimize their badges into lapel pins for cummunity service as well as outreach programs.

Breaking the streak of politeness was one of the lessons that Southaphanh had to learn before she could receive a lapel pin and certificate of completion after graduating from the Lompoc Citizen’s Police Academy before a standing-room-only crowd of 70 at the Lompoc Police Department.

As you can see custom pins can be used for many situations.  Please contact us today to get started on your lapel pin order.
